About Me

I am a board-certified psychiatrist and addiction psychiatrist who provides psychotherapy and medication for people seeking help with mental illness, addiction, stress, life transitions, and other psychological issues. I am also a research scientist at Columbia University Medical center, where I conduct research on substance use, see participants in clinical trials, and teach medical residents and medical students.

I treat patients individually for a wide spectrum of issues including mood disorders, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, substance and behavioral addictions, and personality disorders. I also see couples and families for family therapy. I have a special interest and expertise in treating patients with both mood and substance use disorders. I use a mix of psychotherapeutic approaches with a focus on psychodynamic, person-centered, and cognitive behavioral therapies to tailor my treatment to each individual. I also employ mindfulness and meditation techniques to help people who are feeling overwhelmed or are having trouble controlling their emotions.

I maintain a personalized practice and see patients on weekdays in the evenings. My academic research has been published in widely read peer-reviewed journals and presented nationally and internationally. My work focuses on the neuroscience and treatment of addiction.
